She explained how there was always a fear
of everything. Food, clothes, everyday goods. The children had to work in the
fields and take care of the cattle. There
was something to do every day. There were no washing machines, and the water had
to be carried inside with the buckets. There were substitutes for everything: Coffee,
eggs, juice.
It
sounds like Elvi’s life was pretty harsh, but I hope that she has also nice and
happy memories.
